The demand for 2021 seals is about 1.603 million tons, with an industrial output value of nearly 20 billion yuan and a market size of 157.1 billion yuan, according to relevant institutions. Although the value of seals is relatively low in practical application, the importance of seals is very high, compressors, pumps, valves and other equipment used in high temperature, high pressure, high-risk media environment, once leakage, the impact on the environment, staff and economic efficiency is self-evident. Therefore, the general use of seals 1-3 years need to replace, from this point of view, the demand is relatively large. With the advancement of technology, many products gradually move towards high-end, more and more stringent technical requirements for seals, and rubber seals because of its good elastic, mechanical strength and other advantages, it is an important trend to replace metal seals as the mainstream of the market. In 2021, metal seals accounted for 57.7 percent of the market, while rubber seals accounted for 27.8 percent, up 12.8 percentage points from 15.0 percent in 2014.

China seals import and export situation

With the development of our seal industry, we have made great progress in the present stage. The products can basically meet the domestic demand, and become an important basic industry for the development of our mechanical industry. Data show that in 2020 our country seal output is 1594500 tons, the same period import quantity is 333000 tons, export quantity is 108700 tons, our country seal consumption is 15191000 tons. From the above data we can see, such a few problems: first, the amount of imports of seals is much larger than the amount of exports; second, the opposite is the amount of exports is much larger than the amount of imports. The reason behind this is that there is still a gap between high-end seal products and foreign ones, while in the middle and low-end products, the competition is fierce, homogenization is serious, and the price is low. So although the export volume is much larger than the import volume, but because the“Gold content” is not high, has been in the trade deficit.
